Dad's 1969 Bike

1969 bicycle receipt and documents

I was sorting through a box of my husband's parents' belongings when I came across these documents. I enjoyed flipping through the owner's manual and checking out the diagram of the bike but what I really love is the receipt! I love that it is a numbered certificate. I love that it is handwritten. I think it is funny that it includes the statement, "The following is a true description of a bicycle transaction made by this firm." As if they are going to give out a receipt for a false transaction! Was that a problem in the 1960's? I smile to see that the purchase included a basket. I can just see my father-in-law riding to his office with his books and his lunch in his basket! And I love that the receipt includes his signature. These documents were an unexpected treasure, one that I am glad that I came across!
