Dutch Cookies


Makes 35-40 Bars

1 Cup Butter, Softened

1 Cup Sugar

1 Egg, separated

2 Cups Flour

½ tsp Cinnamon

1 Tbsp Water

Optional: ½ Cup Nuts, Finely Chopped or colored sprinkles

Preheat oven to 350 degrees fahrenheit.

Grease a 10x16 inch jelly roll pan.

Mix butter, sugar and egg yolk until creamy and fluffy.

Stir flour and cinnamon into butter mixture.

Press dough into the greased jelly roll pan.

Beat together water and egg white until frothy and slightly stiff.

Spread over the dough.

Optional: Sprinkle chopped nuts or colored sprinkles over the top.

Bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. If you like a soft cookie, remove from the oven at 20 minutes. If you like a crunchy cookie, remove from oven at 25 minutes or when edges start to brown.

Cut immediately into bars.
