Sugar Cookie Bars

Makes 20-24 Bars
Cookies:
2 ½ Cups Flour
½ tsp Baking Powder
½ tsp Salt
½ Cup Butter, Softened
1 Cup Sugar
1 Egg
1 ½ Tbsp Sour Cream
1 tsp Vanilla
Preheat oven to 375 degrees fahrenheit.
With discarded butter wrapper or cooking spray, grease a 9x13 pan.
In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking powder and salt. Set aside.
In a large bowl, cream together butter and sugar until light and fluffy, about 3-4 minutes.
Add eggs and mix well.
Add sour cream and vanilla and mix until completely blended.
Slowly add the flour mixture and stir until well combined.
Gently press the dough into the greased baking dish. Buttering your hands will cut down on the stickiness.
Bake at 375 degrees for 17-20 minutes until edges become lightly golded.
Allow to cool completely.
Frosting:
½ Cup Butter, Softened
4 Cups Powdered Sugar, Sifted
¼ Cup Half and Half (Any type of milk will work but the Half and Half makes a creamier frosting)
1 tsp Vanilla
Pinch of Salt
Optional: Several Drops of Food Coloring
In a medium bowl, cream together butter, powdered sugar and half and half until light and fluffy.
Stir in vanilla and salt. Mix well.
Add food coloring a couple of drops at a time until desired color is reached.
Frost the cooled cookies.
Cut into bars.
