Family Keepsake Christmas Ornaments
When I was younger, I thought that my Christmas tree should be beautifully decorated, perfectly put together and have some sort of matching color scheme. Then my kids started bringing home hand made ornaments from school, church, and other activities. I wasn't sure how to fit those into my pretty Christmas tree so I started decorating two trees, one for the front room that was more elegant and one for the family room that included all of the homemade and random ornaments. Over the years, the pretty tree has lost it's appeal and it is the family tree that we look forward to decorating. It is so fun to pull out the ornaments that were made by each of my kids! There are the paper "balls" that were cut out and colored by a 5 year old. There are Perler Bead stars that were crafted by a teenager with her younger siblings. And of course there are the various ornaments with pictures of my kids throughout the years. These are my favorite! Each year, as we pull these ornaments out of the box to hang on the tree, we are filled with memories of years past. What a treasure those memories are! Those memories are what make these simple, kid made ornaments a treasured family keepsake!
