Oma's Jewelry

Oma's Jewelry

My grandmother, Oma, had a lot of style. Her clothes were always unique. Her hair was always neatly done. She always smelled good. She must have worn makeup though I don't remember it as she had a fresh, natural look about her. Most of all, she loved to wear jewelry. She loved big, chunky pieces. Pieces with intricate details. Pieces that were unique. Rings, bracelets, necklaces and clip on earrings...she was usually wearning at least 2 of these. In the picture above, you can see a black choker around her neck and a big, metallic ring on her finger. The jewelry displayed with the picture are a few of her pieces that she passed on to my mom. I'm not sure that there is a story behind most of these pieces. They were just jewelry items that my grandmother loved and wore. The watch (closeup shown below) belonged to my great grandmother and has been passed down from generation to generation. The bracelet (closeup shown below) must have been my grandmother's when she was a little girl. The date on the coin says 1921 and my grandmother was born in 1915 so she probably got it when she was 6. She then gave it to my mom when she was a little girl. I think it is pretty neat that my mom has these special pieces that connect her to her past!
