Document Your Hobbies - Art Supplies
My husband is an artist and as such, he has a creative mind which works very differently than my logical, orderly mind. So when he told me that he wanted to take a picture of some of his art supplies, I could not imagine how that would be interesting. He sure proved me wrong because this picture is one of my SHOTBOX favorites and it definitely tells a story. The acrylic paints are his current favorite medium. The sponge shows one of the tools that he uses to create texture in his paintings. The ceramic container was once a pure white but is now covered with paint splatters from previous projects. The brushes are varied in size and shape and each serve a different purpose. You can tell which ones are his favorites because the shafts are covered in paint and the bristles are stained or oily looking from being cleaned. The color of the paint on the paint brushes even tells a story because there is a lot of blue. My husband likes to paint landscapes and there tends to be a lot of blue sky in a landscape. These are just a few of the things that this picture tells me. Of course it helps to know the artist and to have an understanding of how he works but plenty of people could pick up on a least a few of these details.
If you were to document a hobby, what would it be? What items would represent your craft? What stories would your picture tell? Gather your supplies and give it a try. You might be surprised by the details that the SHOTBOX and your camera reveal!
