Ceramic Whistle

Ceramic Old Fashioned Camera Whistle

My daughter took a ceramics class in 7th grade and one of her assignments was to create a whistle that looks like another item. She chose to make her whistle look like an old Polaroid camera. These cameras were quite popular when I was young so I recognized it right away but many of her classmates had no idea what she had created. A cross between a digital camera and a hammerhead shark with a top hat? Haha! It does look a bit like that but I think that she did a great job especially taking into consideration the fact that she was going off of her memory as opposed to a reference picture! She molded this by hand out of clay, glazed it and then hoped for the best as it was sent to the kiln for firing. The colors and the design turned out great! On top of that, it is a fully functioning whistle! I am so impressed with my 7th grader and her ability to create a project so unique and interesting! This is definitely an item that she will save and cherish!
