I found this sketch book on a recent trip to the Netherlands and I thought it was perfect for my husband, mostly because the inside pages are unlined, but also because I think his sketches are simply brilliant! I am constantly amazed by his ability to bring life and dimension to a blank piece of paper. I enjoy watching as his sketch takes shape. I like to see the every day objects that he finds interesting and sketch worthy. This talent of his really is a wonder to me because I can barely draw a stick figure! I look forward to seeing all of the things that will fill the pages of this book.
Hours after giving my husband this sketch book, I found him sitting on the porch, sketching the tree in our front yard. It was fun to watch as individual leaves appeared out of thin air, filling the blank page. I love the shading among the leaves. I love the hint of grass. I love that the tree is off center. I love the date - his 49th birthday. There is much that I love about this sketch but it is the person behind the sketch that I love the most!
Here is a closeup of the tree sketch. I love how crisp and clear each line, leaf, and blade of grass show up. The SHOTBOX helped me get a picture of the original sketch that is good enough that I could print it out, frame it and hang it on my wall or give it away as a gift! How awesome is that?

Below you can see the setup inside the box. For my base, I used a panel from the Kickstarter Choice collection that looks like concrete because my front steps and porch are made of concrete and that is where my husband sat while he sketched. I did not need a background since I used the topshot feature.
